Question

Live.com - notification sound - no folder/messages download

Nov 15, 2012 7:51AM PST

I am seeking what I consider to be a very minor feature in my live.com email. I simply want to have the PC play a notification sound when a new email message arrives, similar to what you have in Outlook Express.

The significant point is that I do not want to download all of my email folders/messages on to my local PC. I like keeping all of the messages on the live.com server. I am able to access the messages from any PC that I log in to because they remain on the live.com server.

There are utilities, like Poppeeper, etc. that will play a notification sound, but they require that you download all of the messages to the hard drive on your PC. Windows Live Mail requires the same thing.

Can anyone make some good suggestions for me?

Thanks.

Windows Live forum: Live.com - notification sound - no folde
Nov 16, 2012 6:07AM PST

I seem to remember that Outlook Express does have a option that has to do with leaving a COPY of the message on the server after downloading it to the local folder.

I just want a utility that will monitor my Live.com email account and notify me when new messages come in.

And I don't use any of them, I left that part of my reply vacant.
