Live! Cam Voice noise problem

Apr 2, 2007 2:04PM PDT

The person on the other side hears a noise when I'm using my camera. When I'm only chatting with it no prob, but when I start the video the other side gets an annoying noise. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

Just a note that your post has so little to work with that an answer is unlikely. No mention of Windows, MacOSX, Linux, make, model of hardware at use or if the issue is mutual if they call you.

Detailed explanation
Apr 3, 2007 12:40PM PDT

I knew that I had a problem when I started a conversation with a friend of mine over Skype, because she told me that she could not hear me because of this terrible noise, at that moment we used MSN Messenger to verify if there was something wrong with Skype, but it wasn't, same annoying noise. Then I tried to capture a video to hear myself and I must tell you, the noise is awful, I can't even hear myself. So I tried to solve the problem looking for answers, trying to tweak the software and change every setting possible, and nothing had happen. I must tell that I get the noise ONLY when the video is running, when I'm using voice only the sound is great. I think that my camera is defective.

And following Bob's advise I'm giving my system configuration

Compaq Presario Laptop R3460US
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
512MB DDR SDRAM
60GB 4200 rpm
SoundMAX Digital Audio Sound Card
Windows XP Home Edition w/Service Pack 2
NVIDIA GeForce 4 440 Go
24X DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
and of course my brand new Creative Live! Cam Voice

Thanks in advance for any help that I could get.

driver update
Apr 4, 2007 11:29PM PDT

This link is creative-labs Europe site and it mentions a Creative Live! Cam Voice driver an improved version of the drivers found on the installation CD, some mention in the details about noise cancellation, if this is your model of webcam. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the webcam ? Les.

If you have a compact florescent light near your computer, this will cause the noise. Turn out the light and see what happens.
