little problem big head ache

i have windows xp and a belkin router, my problem is when i'm on the computer it is constantly loading, sometimes i do a disk clean up several times a day and i could have 1000's of files to clean, also so do temp, and cookies and there loaded. can someone help me. Thank You nan
ps: my husbands does the same thing
