Lip sync issue with a new Sony soundbar - any advice?

I purchased this Sony sondbar:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-2-1-channel-soundbar-system-with-wireless-subwoofer-and-digital-amplifier-black/5755000.p?skuId=5755000

The audio has a 1-2 second lag which is driving me nuts. I have it connected directly to the HDMI 3 ARC slot. PS4 which I use for all games/streaming directly into HDMI 2.

Audio set to PCM.

I've tried every fix I could locate on Youtube/google and just can't seem to get this to sync up properly.

If it matters the model of the TV is:

Sony - 65" Class - LED - X750D Series - 2160p - Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR

Model:XBR-65X750DSKU:4803800

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Use the digital optical input instead of HDMI/ARC

In general, ARC is a bit of a disaster. Try a digital optical cable instead that to see if some of the lag is diminished.

Plan B would be to pitch the sound bar and obtain a very basic AV receiver with surround speakers/sub and option built in to adjust audio delay.

I'll give that a shot. Optical direct to the TV, or to the PS4? And do I use it in conjunction with the HDMI or solo? Thanks so much for the quick response!

Suggested configuration of gear

In reply to: Follow up

Having a PS4 helps, since it is capable of simultaneous HDMI out and Digital optical output.

That said, I would hook it all up this way:

PS4 (Hdmi out) —> (Hdmi in) Sony HDTV
PS4 (digital optical out) —> (digital opt in) Soundbar
*From memory, you may need to select ‘HDMI’ for the audio output setting on the PS4

If you also want to use the built in HDTV apps and send that audio back out to the soundbar, utilize a digital optical switch. I probably have 2 or 3 JTECH brand switches at home in use now. Amazon.
This would add an additional digital optical cable between HDTV and switch, then another one from the switch to the soundbar. Other digital optical cable from PS4 would be re-routed to the switch.

Let me know if that makes sense.
