It took me 6 hours to download on a 5MBps line. Install took less thAn 30 minutes with no manual intervention required. Everything worked except PhotoShop Elements (old PPC version). Bought new PSE from AppStore for $79.00(!).
No problems at all. Love it!

Yes, it took 30 mn on fast Internet (40mbs) and it works smoothly, amazing new features but will take time to integrate them...more than pleased. Yes!

went to app store to look at lion app and started reading reports from people who have installed lion, doesnt make good reading, lots of negative reports and problems, apparently they say some things dont work anymore and reports of previously problem free machines now slow and laggy, some think its not an improvement, just a pretty makeover, dont know what to think.

Yes, some things do not work any more,

but those are unlikely to affect you as you have a new machine and 99% of your software is probably Intel anyway.
What stops working, and I am surprised by the number of people who are caught unawares, are those applications that were written for the PPC processor (before your time) and that have not been updated.

to download Lion today. After some 7 hours of downloading, I got the message that the download had failed and I should check my internet service. I have DSL. Apple should get their act together. I'm not going to jump on the Lion's back until things start to work.
