Question

Linux vs. Windows 10

by tdr121 / January 29, 2016 6:53 PM PST

Hello, new to this forum. Wondering about Linux vs. Windows 10. I installed 10 on one of my laptops and had nothing but problems. Reverted back to W7. Now after 6 mos., I'm considering trying 10 again after some bugs and updates fixed. I'm thinking about Linux, but know nothing about it. Any opinions either positive or negative? Can Linux really help me overcome the quirks of W10? I really like W7 and I'm used to it. Is W10 REALLY that bad or does it just take time to get used to? I'm an intermediate level user who uses for emails, music and research mostly. I don't need fancy things, just a basic OS that works without headaches that Windows seems to deliver regularly. How can I get Linux- free or pay? Easy install? Please advise and suggestions are needed and welcome.

Here it's been spotless. I'm not going back.

I do know folk struggle with drivers and such but nothing new there. And many linux distros come with drivers so they have that going for them.

I use linux. as far as using it to overcome the quirks of w10 there is no way to answer that since I dont have the slightest idea of what you are considering a quirks. You can run linux without installing it to see if you like it or not. I would suggest linux mint kde. once you create an install disk, all you have to do is to boot to it to run it.
