Linux usage

Dec 8, 2005 2:17AM PST

I am running a PIII-500, 256 Ram, two HD's, dialup, Win XP Pro.
I am considering more and more of going to a Linux OS as an alternative to Windows OS. Could anyone give me some advice as to, practicality, ease of use, installing, etc. I would sure appreciate any input. Thanks in advance, Bill

Try LIVE CDs first.

With Live Linux CDs (see google.com) you can test drive Linux without any impact to your machine.

I dual boot Open Suse 10 which cost me nothing...

I dual-boot XP and Mandriva 2006 on one HDD and use the 2nd HDD for graphics/video/downloads/storage.

Hi "wanness",
Agree with the other responders, i.e. I suggest that you try one of the "Live CD:s", e.g. DSL (damn small linux), Linux Puppy (91 MB and very fast, running very fast from RAM), MEPIS, and Knoppix.
Cheers
