Linux(Mepis LiveEval) and USB-External Hard Disk Issue

(Attempting Hard Disk Recovery)

Hi
My PC with Win XP (MCE2004) is dying/died with a SMART
warning. So, I'm trying the CD LiveEval Mepis with
some luck.

I have an external, USB hard drive which is not
recognized by the OS so far. The smaller USB
thumbdrive is recognized (Lexar), larger is Seagate.

Desktop s a Sony Vaio.

I may try to see if the built-in CD burn SW works
and try storing files onto CD via Mepis?

I'm after the data as much as possible (some
back-ups). Will perform a OS recovery sometime
once I have as much data as possible.
