Linux Dual Boot with AMD 64 3400 Processor

Is there any reason I can not create a dual boot system with an 64bit version of Linux and a 32 bit version of Windows using an AMD 64 processor?

Thanks for your help.

PS. I plan on doing this with an HP laptop computer.

In short, even I would not attempt to create my own dual boot. I let the distro take care of it. Suse 9.1 does this with ease.

Can you share what distro and boot manager that failed for you.

I have not failed yet. I am thinking about buying a laptop with the AMD 64 3400 chip and was hoping to be able to use the 64 bit functionality with Linux while maintaining the Windows for use with school related software. I have never installed a dual boot system and was not sure if you could have one system working with two different bit configurations.

Ahh, that's not what I read in your first post.

Suse 9.1 is known to be able to help the owner install a 9.1 64-bit and XP dual boot.
