Such a home rarely can be covered with a single router. I think some are taken in by the Tomato and such but if you want that, I won't argue. Go ahead with your plan then know about devices to add coverage where it dies. Here's a picture.
Hey folks,
I am planning to buy a new router this december. As we all know its almost 2016 now, would it make sense to buy a 11 Year old router? Its the Linksys WRT54GL. I always wanted to buy this, but the current router performed really well, until recently I upgraded to a high speed internet. I get break-neck speeds on the PC, that's connected via ethernet cable but not on Wifi and there are dead-spots/weak areas around the house.
Thinking that WRT54GL offers enterprise grade performance and can be pumped with Tomato's and DDWRTs, would buying this router now, make sense?
I live in a 2-floor, large house, with solid concrete walls. I have a minimum of 10 wifi mobile devices, 1 Smart TV, 3 Wifi Laptops, 2 PCs connected via ethernet that connect to this router. That's the environment.
Considering that most of the devices now are on the N and AC types and have features of network storage and wifi print, Will buying this, a future ready router makes more sense? Do let me know. Thanks!
