" this only works if I connect to my AP (WR54GS). I cannot connect to the WRE54g. "
To have a hope of all this working, you have all firmware in all devices up to the latest and nothing but factory settings. I see many try to disable SSID broadcast, enable WEP/WPA before they get it working. Sometimes you find you can't use a feature with these expanders.
I have read through many threads in various places regarding this piece of equipment, but am still having a problem. I have updated the firmware (which solved my first problem)
My expander is now recognized in the network, and I can access it at 192.168.1.240. However, this only works if I connect to my AP (WR54GS). I cannot connect to the WRE54g. Initially on setup, the SSID of the WRE54g was changed to my router's SSID by default (that didn't work)
so I changed the ssid of the wre, and now when I try to connect to it, I can, but get no signal (I have a suspicion that it is because my laptop is set to obtain an IP address automatically with DHCP, but am not sure how to get around it)
anyway, I am running windows XP home with a broadcom intergrated wireless card
any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
