I didn't read your post. All capitals is like shouting and it's all in a long paragraph.

Even so, the most common issue for this is simple. The owner installed a firewall and is still learning how to configure that. I don't offer any firewall support. I will share that once you get the machines behind the router, you can uninstall the firewalls, get the network working and then reinstall the firewall.

If it breaks when you install the firewall, then you seek help on that.

Since you have a router and DSL you have a good start on transferring files between computers. I use PC Anywhere. First you will need to ID the computers by their IP Address. In Windows Open the Start menu and select "Run. . ." in the small input window, type "IPconfig" and you should get the IP adress for that machine(make a note of it).You shoud also verify the IP address for the other machine, but it will probably be directly before or after the other computers IP address, depending on which computer was hooked up to the router first. In PcAnywhere you have the option of having a computer be the host, and the other being a Client. Set these up ccordingly, and then you may use pcAnywhere to transfer files, or even remote control the other computer. I havent't done this in a while, so I can't give you specifics, but it works!

Hello again,

In addition to pcAnywhere, I believe you can also set something up in windows using "my network places(win2k)",
but I think that you need to possibly set up folders, or maybe id folders that will reside on the network. I haven't used any Windows networking components, but maybe you can get some help from someone who has. I will also be looking into this as well. Good Luck!
