Linksys EFG20 NAS problem with Windows XP

Apr 29, 2006 10:35AM PDT

I have an old linksys 20GB Network Attached Storage unit. This unit works great with all my windows 2000 computers, But it does not work with any of my Win XP computers.

I can see it from Explorer, but when I click on it, I get an error "\\Netdrive is not accessible. You might not have permission....Contact the administrator..."

Any ideas?

Linksys 20GB Netdrive

I have been to the Linksys site and downloaded the firmware... But what I don't understand is why ALL of my older machines (windows 95, 98, Me & 2000) can read the drive without any problems, and no my Win XP systems??

Wish I could be there.

I'd have to double check your work on users and passwords.

Can't get into certain folders
May 31, 2006 11:06PM PDT

I'm having the same type of problem, but only on certain folders.

I've added my windows username/password to the EFG20 with no effect.

Using the administrative web page, I can use the file browser to open the folders I'm interested in. The contained files show an owner of 'guest'. I can even rename the folders and see these changed names through the share.

When I try to open one of the folders I get the message "<folder> is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied."

I've tried changing the permissions on the share, changing the user I connect as, but I can't seem to get into these two folders.

If the admin site's browser would let me move files, I might be able to get them to a folder I can access, but it doesn't. I'm very frustrated.

Any suggestions?
