When you move the ethernet cable from PC to the router the OLD method is to...
1. Power down the cable modem.
2. Move the connections.
3. Power up the cable modem.
It has to do with how the cable modem locks onto the devices but that's written about widely so I'll stop here.
So here is the issue:
When I connect my modem directly to my computer (modem > computer) it works just fine, internet connects and everything through the direct ethernet connection.
But when I connect the modem to the router and then try to connect wireless with any other computer (modem > router > wireless) nothing works. Not even when I have it connected directly from the router to the ethernet on the main computer. (Which has ALWAYS worked until now.)
What can I do to solve the problem? I have seen other people post about running ipconfig and checking firewall settings. Even with everything disconnected (firewalls, wpa, etc) NOTHING works (even factory reset on the router.). I am highly frustrated since we have 7/8 devices that are now useless without wi-fi.
