Linksys connection

I am running XP on my Dell Latitude 600 laptop. I have a modem and wireless card installed. While vacationing I am able to pick up the wireless network connection Linksys but only sporadically. Is there any way to keep and strengthen this wireless reception?

Does your XP system connect to the internet at home through a wireless router and modem? If so, what happens when you are away from home? What internet provider do you use?

Yes I do connect to a wireless router at home through Verizon Fios. I can use my laptop while at home through the wireless router and have no problem with connectivity. I am presently connected while on vacation in my condo. I do get a linksys connection sporadically. While here on vacation is there any way to boost the wireless connection I can get with my linsys wireless card?
