Linkstick Connection Problem

Just got a new Samsung 55" LCD and Linkstick. The Linkstick is working and connects to router but it keeps losing the connection when using Netflix or other streaming source. I use Netflix with my iPad in the same room with no problems. Is there a solution to make it work better?

breuerd1,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble connecting.

It could be one of two things:

1. The LinkStick could be malfunctioning
2. The router may be timing out early. That's a strong possibility, and a call to your router company many help troubleshoot the issue.

It seems that if the router was timing out earlt then I would see the same connection problem when streaming video to my iPad.

So how can I tell if the LinkStick is malfunctioning or test it?

breuerd1,

Your best choice would probably to exchange it for another if you suspect that, but I'd still recommend checking in with your router's customer service and note that you're having an issue with this device, and not others.

If that's not possible, you might try plugging it on your computer, see if you can connect with your computer and then stream for a bit with the LinkStick.

Thanks.

One question -- I thought the LinkStick would only work with Samsung products? In other words I can't test it using my Dell laptop.

breuerd1,

I've seen mixed reviews, but enough to have warranted suggesting it.

I just tried here and wasn't able to load a driver. So that'll be the last time I suggest THAT idea. Wink Guess not! So I apologize for that.

Actually, I don't recommend trying other wireless USB devices in Samsung products. The LinkStick is specifically designed to work with existing software already in Samsung products (Blu-Rays and TVs). Doing so probably wouldn't damage anything, but it just won't work.

But if your television isn't connecting with the WIS09ABGn or recognizing it, best to have it exchanged and see if that helps.
