Links do not work in Outlook Express

When I read an email in Outlook Express and then try to click on a hyperlink inside the email it does not open my web browser (neither IE nor Firefox) - rather, it opens up C:\Program Files\Dell\Dell DJ Explorer

I have not experienced any browser/hyperlink problems from any other programs. It's only in Outlook Express.

Any explanations or fixes for this? I'm getting tired of copying and pasting every link into my browser.

Legmar, First make sure that Internet Explorer is set as your default Browser (Internet Options>Tools>Programs tab) then go to the link below and register the referenced dll files as shown under the Resolution section.

Links in Outlook Express can be specially crafted so they hide their true destination. You should NEVER just click on a link in Outlook Express, assuming you choose to do a stupid thing like use Outlook Express to begin with.

If you insist on putting your system, and any personal info on it, at risk by using Outlook Express, the least you should do is copy and paste links into the browser. It's more effort, but it will dramatically reduce the chances of being hit by some phishing scam.

You'd be far better off using a different email client entirely. Mozilla Thunderbird's what I'd recommend, but anything should do so long as it's not Outlook or Outlook Express.
