Have a look at the vlookup-function. However, it requires the list to be searched in to be in ascending sequence. So you can't use the same list for access with names and number at the same time.
This is the kind of problem they invented a 'database system' for. In MS Office Professional you'll find MS Access.

I run a business out of my home. I have a customer list that includes customer account numbers. My customer list, sales and receipts spreadsheets are in exel. Is there a way i can link my customer list to my sales and receipts spreasheets so that when i put in the customer number, it will automatically put in the customer name in the cell where i specify or vice versa? I am using Microsoft Excel 2000.
