Lines on my screen

by mo2 / June 5, 2004 10:10 AM PDT

All of a sudden one day my display has these lines in it. Hard to explain except that where ever there is a line of words or a box on the screen there is a shadow that goes straight across the screen. Lines of sort that are the same height of the letter or box. It happens online and off. It also happens with quickbooks, quicken ect. I thought it was my monitor but I just bought a new one and that wasn't the problem. Anyone have any clues.

Then a video card or the cable can be the issue.

What make/models of card and display are we talkign about and how many years old?

Be sure you aren't complaining about a CRT MASK SUPPORT WIRE. Read http://www.medsim.com/faq/frequent.html#TechProdSup and other sites about this damper wire.

This computor is a HP AMD Athlon 900MHz w/windows ME and was bought in Sept 01. I've been lucky and not had any problems at all with it.The monitor that I just purchased is a HP pavilion f1703 flat screen. Your suggestion about the video card led me to a site of troubleshooting and they said it might be my adapter card, same thing?? All I found on the video card is Diamond Viper V330 detected as Nvidia Riva 128.Also the site on the Mask Support wire is not the problem, this is on every printed line and box. Its very annoying. Thanks for your help on this.MO

That's a very old card, even in 2001.

I have this same problem. And yes, it is annoying!!!
I hooked up another computer to this monitor and it worked fine. So, it's something with the computer itself. The video card is fine. It sounds like it's a setting or a driver issue.
I can't seem to resolve it.
I'm hoping to resolve it soon!
IF you have any luck in the meantime, please let me know.
Thanks!

It seems to only happed in Quick Books (invoices, formes, and such) . But not particularly a problem for me as the lines don't print or save. No viruses or pests present.

I have removed and reloaded Quick Books several times but no change. I'm thinking it's a Quick Books problem.
