Line in recording

I don't know much about mp3-player-related-stuff, so I'm sorry if this question seems pretty stupid... If an MP3 player has line-in recording, does it mean that you can record using an external microphone? (I don't know if this matters or not, but I'm thinking about the Creative MuVo Micro N200)
