Question

Limited access to NAS drive

May 8, 2015 11:22AM PDT

I have a 4 bay NAS on my home network.

I connect to it with my Windows 8.1 PC by ethernet woth no problem.

When I connect my Microsoft Surface Pro 3 also running Windows 8.1 but via WiFi I can only access one folder & some of its subfolders.
If I go into System>change settings>network id> & change the setting to "home network", it reboots & then all works fine. The setting reverts at some stage on its own (no logging off or rebooting) & then I am back to not being able to access the NAS.

This is so frustrating as all my files are stored on the NAS & using the Surface is hard work.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Option not visible

When I right click on my network I only get 2 options

1. Show estimated data usage
2. Forget this network

I have tried forgetting the network & re-installing but always with the same results.

Be sure that the machine is near stock then if it fails, make it a warranty issue.
