Question

Life in 10GbE (or close)

Oct 28, 2018 2:03AM PDT

Currently in the process of buying 3 devices and i'm trying to figure out the best topology without having to buy a switch.

- The Netgear X10 router [x6 RJ45 gigabit port (link aggregation on port 1 & 2), x1 10GbE SFP+ port]

- The Qnap TS-932 NAS [x2 RJ45 gigabit port, x2 10GbE SFP+ port]

- Custom Mini PC, the machine i'll be running my plex server on [x2 RJ45 gigabit port on board, x4 10GbE SFP+ port via a Startech PCIe NIC card]

I'm currently thinking of doing the following:
1 direct attach SFP+ cable between custom PC and router
2 direct attach SFP+ cables between custom PC and NAS
2 CAT 6 cables between NAS & router.
