Life after Skype?

Now that Skype is no longer available for Samsung TV's, does anyone have an alternative that we can download and use instead of Skype? I use it to connect our two offices, and I don't know what app I can get to replace it.

Any thoughts or suggestions are really appreciated.

Have a great day everyone!

That's not what I read.

I read that the app still works after a date and signup may fail but you can signup on a PC and then use it till it fails.

It's not dead yet.

On appliances like this, it's not a PC so you'll have to add some external box that has it.

Starting June 2, 2016, the Skype application will no longer be available on Samsung Smart TVs. For more information, please contact Skype Support at . Skype is transitioning from their legacy service to a newer, more modern mobile and PC focused service. The new service offers features and flexibility that were not available in the legacy version. Skype has ceased investment in all Smart TV platforms (all vendors) to focus on their new direction, but fully intends to investigate ways to bring the new Skype platform back to TV. Timeframe and details of that are unknown at this point, and as far as we're aware there are no replacements for the app at this time.

Thank you HD Tech. Just what I need to hear after, within the last 4 months, buying two Samsung smart tvs - one a top of the range curved screen - and a camera that will only work on these smart tvs. Admittedly Skype app was not the only reason for the purchase, but it did have a bearing on my investment.

My retailer has shrugged his shoulders and suggested, well thats life. Samsung say tough. Very helpful.

Can you advise if Samsung are going to offer a 'buy back' scheme for the camera or some form of compensation for the investment in your products - after all the Skype app has been included in the smart tv advertising up till very recently, although latterly there has been disclaimer on the website in very very small print.
