License plate story. Got one?

Nov 30, 2013 2:09AM PST

My license plate story is from 2000. Someone had removed my plates but a co-worker saw it and chased them down.

I learned more as the story unfolded and to make it funny, the office manufactures CCTV gear and there are cameras watching cameras that watch the entire complex. The whole thing was on video ready for the RCMP.

RCMP? Google that!

The person was under 18 so under the law there they would not have a record in a few months so this is where it gets a little more interesting.

When they want to ship out some stolen car in a container they want some current plates that match model and color so it passes a cursory check. So they send out the word to go get plates for that and I got lucky this time.

Now they employ those under 18 since they won't have a record and can't be held for long as well. So there is a ready market for plates and jobs for the young.

I never heard if they plugged that hole in the system.

of crime, it would be easier to just get some mild steel sheets and stamp out a pile of fake plates. Heck, they could all be the same number for awhile.

Have you noticed some states don't stamp?

Seems you could print them out.

not me but a coworker

moved to northeastern NC small town from Maryland, I think it was Maryland.

No front tag here, except a few city required tags, so when he registered his truck here he only got one tag for the rear. He never removed the other state tag off the front.

He pulled up at home one day, and a sheriff car came flying up behind him, cop got out with hand on his gun grip, didn't removed it but acted like he was expecting a problem. Coworker kids in the yard crying as the cop yelled at the man to show his hands etc. Then here comes another cop car sliding to a stop lights running.

Seems the first cop noticed the front and rear tags were different states so assume it was stolen and he was probably dangerous.

Gotcha'

Here in Ohio they continue to issue frt&rear plates. The state law enforcement organizations and troopers all want the dual plates to make it easier for them. As of now, there is a pending legislation or another try to get only 1 plate issuance. With that thinking why do other states offer only 1-plate. Don't they think their law enforcement is worth the effort and all that? Does it really cost that much to have 2-plates? Is it really that harder for law enforcement to look at only 1-plate. So, isn't the citizen the trump card here, do what we want, don't force law enforcement wants&needs as the basis for law, just enforce the current laws. Anyone ever been treated like a big time criminal in some small township enforcing some nit-picky ordnance or law then basically its a pay as you leave policy? ------Willy Happy

did they hang both front and rear tags, and if a rear tag, was it under or over the horse's tail?

Over.

If it was under, that would be crap and would be obscured.

I went to france once and most likely ate one. Of couse, the French way of cooking is: cut it's horns off and wipe its arse.
Now that's what I call rare.

was to beat it until where it came from wasn't recognizable to the eye and to cook it with so many herbs that where it came from wasn't recognizable by the tongue. Wink

Hell, Lots of folks don't like the way Veal is produced either . Do you eat Veal? I was married to an animal rights activist for 20+ years and yet she ate beef and wore leather and ate chicken and turkey, wore a goose down coat too, and when I came home from fishing , she sure enjoyed the catch of the day. During the war, they tried to farm hamsters as food. Unfortunately the hamsters all died. So they thought how can we recycle these hamsters. Somebody said, why don't we make jam out of them. So they tried the jam and it was disgusting.

Then someone said why don't we plough it into the ground and grow tulips on it.
And that's how you get..... TULIPS FROM HAMSTER JAM!
