Question

LGG4 BATTERIES

Sep 16, 2018 8:18PM PDT

What is the largest battery you can SAFELY put in an LGG4? I see 5000mah and 6000mah advertised -- but am afraid they might blow up the phone.

If they are safe, is using them going to materially improve battery life?

Good to hear...

I've heard so much about phones overheating and bursting into flame for battery-related reasons. And my fone often seems to run hot right now.

But how has this worked in terms of extending time between charges?

Varies with use. I will write that it seems to need a charge every 5 days or longer.

That's pretty amazing. If I can get through one day I feel lucky. If I'm using for instance WAZE, I'd be lucky to get through a few HOURS!

Think I need a new battery of that larger size.

Note: in interim moderator on LG forum told me that any battery that fits into the phone is OK. I queried him on whether that includes those large 'hump-back' kind of batteries.

Should be "nothing but LG batteries we supply for this model." You can't complain to them if you use something else. But I own a LG G4 and that's the battery I opted for.

Why? I've had a number of phones over the years and each one I can install hump back or case batteries, I do. I don't fret here. But I'm an electronics designer so to me I don't worry.

My Apple backup phone is the iPhone 6 which I put a Mophie (?) battery case on.
