LG VX6100 Speakerphone Function

I recently got my LG VX6100 cell phone and was wondering if there is a way to use the speakerphone function with the phone closed. When I try closing the phone while on speakerphone, it just hangs up. The only reason I got this phone was because of the speakerphone! And it's kind of pointless to use the speakerphone with the phone open.. Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat. I previously had Nextel i730 that had a great speakerphone w/o having to flip open the phone. The reason I ended service with Nextel is because my area had poor coverage.
