HP, like most other US brands, have their PCs supplied by one of a few computer manufacturer in China, then they add their own mark-up. Both Acer (Taiwan company) and LG (Korean company) builds their own and sell them to you without the middle man. I'm not saying the middleman is bad, as long as they provide better service and support to earn the mark-up. What do you think?

Not many companies make their own laptops.

Asus is one that does. The companies that make the laptops are called ODM's Original Design Manufactures. Theses companies are mostly in Taiwan and examples of some of these companies are Quanta, Compal, Clevo, Winstron, Arima and Asustek. Acer use Quanta, Compal and Winstron and they just purchased Gateway that uses most of the same ODM's but also uses Arima and the new Acer will consolidate the ODM's. LG, HP and Acer are OEM's Original Equipment Manufacturers that buy from the ODM's and brand the laptops with their names. Everyone does it from Apple to Dell.

Its seen LG R405SP is a better buy

Its has higher screen resolution(1440X900)
HP Pav DV 2503 & Acer AS 4720G onli 1280X800.
Although all three Model has the same series Geforce 8400 Graphic Card, HP has onli 64mb Delicated. Acer & LG has 128mb Delicated.
I dun like the design & material of Acer... i like HP design n material but its heat up faster and heavier...

LG had a competitive agreement with IBM in the US. I wonder if that agreement continues with Lenova. It must because it's not easy to find a LG laptop in the US.
