Question

LG SP820 - wrong timezone

Jan 6, 2014 6:25PM PST

Hi ppl,

I have recently bought a LG media player directly from Korea, because this model is no longer available in Germany. So far so good! I'm very happy with it, it's fast, has DTS support, Smart TV interface is awesome, but...

My problem is that the only country that appears in the menu is, of course, "Korea". There is one more option available and that is "others" and that's all. No other country! If I switch to "Other" time zone, the "Login" button from the main menu at the top right is gone, so I can not login nor register. If set to "Korea", the button is there and I can access all premium apps from KOREA time zone. Everything's fine, but I need the premium content from Europe, and not from Asia. I did a software update as well, but nothing's changed.

Has anyone experienced similar problem with either this model or another TV smart system? I researched a lot about this and I'm afraid I have to do a manual software update to switch to Europe time zone, but there's no the .epk file on LG support website. Or maybe it's an easier way to do it and I'm missing something...

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have just bought an SP820 from Korea and have exactly the same problem. There is no Login button and I have only a tiny amount of the functionality I require. I've just contact the seller so I can return it. Did you manage to find a solution?

Unfortunately not! I did write a couple of emails to LG support, here in Germany and also in the US, but they didn't provide a clear solution. To be honest, they just send an email back telling me that my problem was forwarded to the tech department and that was it. I really like LG products, but their support is really bad, so I was forced to return it. I hope that you'll have more luck than I did!

Cheers!
