Question

LG SL90 Led TV won't turn on anymore?

Sep 7, 2013 2:56AM PDT

I'm hoping someone out there can advise me. I recently sold my LG SL90 led TV to a friend. It had been working perfectly. Yesterday he called me to say it would no longer turn on. When I had it I would always turn it off by pressing the red button on the remote. The indicator on he tv would turn red indicating in standby mode. I would then unplug or switch off at the mains. Now my friend told me he'd found some buttons on the side of he tv. I have never touched them. I personally think he's fiddled or done something and now it's not working.

Now when you plug in and switch on he tv it just makes a clicking sound and it won't start up. Red indicator light flashes.

Can anyone help? I've had to give his money back and take the TV back. Is it something simple? Or am I going t have to pay a technician to fix it. I don't really want to scrap it. I'd like to sell it.

Try AVS Forums.

But I find most that ask this question are not into TV repair. Some start their TV repair career with the first dead set. But do try the AVS Forum as some dare answer repair questions there.

Answer
I did a search at LG support site & found this

Here's a link to some comments about the problem at the LG support site.
http://www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/CT10000004-CT10000018-1337703581613 . I have an almost 3 year old LG 47SL90, and I have to say it's been 100% trouble free for me. I do have it connected to a decent surge protector. That's something else I'd check to see if your friend did because today's electronics are extremely sensitive to power surges.

Good luck.

Answer
No Power Issue

We would be happy to offer some troubleshooting on this:

The power indicator light is usually our first indication as to whether the TV is actually receiving power.
1. If the power indicator is illuminated on the front of the device, the device is receiving power, however, this could just be the 'standby' light.
2. If you'ved pressed the [Power] button on the TV and the light does not change from 'standby' to 'on' then service is required.
3. Try pressing any other button on the TV control panel to confirm there is no image before seeking service. If the indicator does change (you may even hear audio after teh set boots) but there is no image, it may just be an issue where there is "no signal". This usually can relate to the cable. You would then want to check the power on the external device you are using.

If all else fails, the unit will need service.

You can have service setup by calling our Customer Service at 1-800-243-0000 or http://www.lg.com/us/support.

Hope this helps,
