LG LA2405wg monitor: goes dark intermittently.

Jul 15, 2013 5:52AM PDT

LG LAG2405wg 24" monitor; goes dark intermittently by itself.
Monitor connected to laptop Toshiba R930 docking station, with a DVI (from monitor) to HDMI (on docking station) cable; laptop runs Win 7 Pro 64-bit.
Also ran on the laptop is Citrix Receiver 3.2.0.5831.
Monitor will go black intermittently.
I have replaced the monitor with a known good monitor, same model.
I have replaced the laptop and docking station, and the power cables.
I have replaced the monitor power cable.
I have user a different power outlet, power extension cord and power bar.
I have modified the power saving mode settings for the external monitor for the maximum power settings.
The issue remains; monitor goes dark for no reason, and one has to restart the laptop for the display to come back.
Any tips/suggestions are welcome.
Pierre.

Since it fails with all those parts replaced.

It points to the laptop having some issue. Do other laptops work?

LG LA2405wh monitor: goes dark intermittently
Jul 15, 2013 8:18AM PDT

Hello Bob.

The user contacted me this morning to tell me that the monitor was going dark every 10 minutes.
Today, I installed a brand new Toshiba R930 and docking station, as well as a new power adapter for the docking; I also replaced the power cord of the monitor with a thicker one.
I also replaced the DVI to HDMI cable that connect the docking to the external monitor.
I asked the user to do a follow-up for the following days.
I'll post an update in the following days.
Many thanks for reaching out.

Pierre.

Can you supply a link to that display?

Why it matters is yet again I can't find that model.

If this was some Samsung I'd have you set the input name and use HDMI port 1 but without the model I wonder if this is that same issue Samsung has.

Sure sounds like the old HDCP blink issue.

I could not find this model's service or such manual to dive any deeper but it sounds like the old HDCP blink issue. This is not repairable as the HDMI chips in video card and display are not fixable. Sorry but the industry isn't winning my soul over here.

Unfortunately, this is not a valid LG Electronics model number. We would not be able to offer troubleshooting. If you have a LG Monitor, please check the model number and advise. ^CL
