Question

LG Gram (Thinking of buying)

Hey everyone

my laptop is in need (WANT) of an upgrade, i am seriously considering the LG Gram, yes I got sucked in by the obviously heavily edited commercial of them juggling the damn thing.

I travel ALOT and its almost always backpack (not tourist travel in comfy planes and shuttles) and chicken buses (think american school bus with super charged engines and disco balls and no brakes)

HP Folio 13 Laptop
512gb ssd (Crucial) - (upgraded from the original 128gb ssd)
8 gb ram (crucial - (upgraded from the original 4gb ram)
1.60 ghz dual core celeron I5 cpu
13.3" screen
extremely lightweight (about 3.3 pounds)
Windows 7 Pro (Admin version)
A whole host of software

Any recommendations would be great, below is the use case of the laptop

Video editing and rendering (Adobe premiere)

Graphic design and editing (Fireworks and photoshop)

Basic office work (Ms Office-Outlook email)

Web browsing

skype

basic web design (Dreamweaver and php+)

misc duties

Obviously the video editing is the big one, however the Hp folio has no issues with Premiere (as long as the footage is not 4K) its the rendering that takes a bit of time.

Again I love my Folio 13, but I also recognize the time for an upgrade is coming soon, and if the new model shaves a pound off my back, I'm all for that as well

I just want to make sure that I will see an IMPROVEMENT with the gram in the video editing, I understand rendering might still be slow

I also am looking at the

Hp Spectre 360
HP Envy
Dell XPS 13

Would like to hear from ACTUAL owners, not just people who read reviews

Thanks for the great honest review

Bondaru,

In a world of ultra slick and polished Youtube wannabe videos, that has to be the most honest and self polished video I have seen in a long time. It was without flair and without pomp. I had already decided on buying the LG Gram (ALbeit the 15" version" and your review was very helpful.

Again when someone takes the time to go over their tech and give an honest user opinion it really helps the rest of us.

I will of course report back to this forum with my experiences after I have had my laptop for a length of time.

Thanks again

Jayjay,

I'm glad I could be of help. I know how important it is to have a good understanding of what you're getting into when you spend $1000+ on a piece of tech that you'll eventually have to live with, every day, for a few years. I'm only reviewing tech I've been using as my own, and don't give a crap about aesthetics (granted, my camera kinda sucks).

Enjoy your gram, and thanks for watching!
Cheers!
