Windows 8 for example even with many supplied software that comes with DVDRW drives won't play Video DVDs out of the box.
You could try VLC as noted at http://www.pcworld.com/article/259230/free_media_player_vlc_2_0_2_plays_almost_any_video_file.html
Be sure to install it with Ninite or from their website. Why?
I have a new LG GP50 dvd writer connected to my new Lenovo Yoga laptop by the UBS cable that came in the LG box. I've installed the software on the CD that came in the LG box. But the thing won't play DVDs!
Sure enough on My PC>>drives, the E-drive is listed. It recognises the name of the film on the DVD (the icon changes) but when I click the icon (with mouse) or touch (with finger) nothing happens. Is there something missing from the LG box?
