Question

LG G4 lag issues

Suddenly my Lg G4 is sluggish and unresponsive. Button pushes don't register, or are delayed, things from the play store download slowly, but freeze on install. I have tried all basic fixes, restart, clear cache, remove sd card, safe mode, factory reset, new battery, reduced animation scale and disabled dual window...all with no rewards. Any ideas would be very helpful. Is this a hardware problem that can be fixed? Thanks in advance.

The killer to me is the factory reset.

In reply to: LG G4 lag issues

That would have blown off apps and put it back to the beginning. There may be some delay as apps update again, but usually that's it. As in usually works.

Did you ever? Install APKs from outside the store? Is the CPU running at full tilt?

How advanced an user are you? Here I'm on a team writing Android apps so we can use https://developer.android.com/studio/profile/cpu-profiler.html

Others may try Termux. Look at this Discussion.

It covers the usual built in task viewers but see if OS Monitor works.

I have installed APK's from outside the store. I don't really understand the software side of computers so much, but if you were to give me instructions I could do it. I will look into Android Studio and report back. I appreciate your help.

It seems unlikely as I have bitdefender, and malewarebytes running on the phone, but I will definately look into that. Could it be a hardware failure? Thanks.

How could that be?

In reply to: RE:ouch...

I thought you factory reset the phone? If you install all that, I bet it will be slow!

Look, I own a G4, so I don't mind comparing notes, chatting but you told me you factory reset and it's still slow. NOW you reveal it's not reset but still has non-factory apps. You.....

You're losing me here.

RE:How could....

In reply to: How could that be?

I have reset the phone 3 times in the last 3 days. I have tried every configuration of re-installing apps, I have tried safe mode, with and without saved data, etc. The problem is constant. The phone ran absolutely perfect until a few days ago with many more apps than now. I am wondering if it is a hardware issue because downloads from the playstore are very slow, and hang on install. I have to force stop the playstore to make it finish installation of the app, which then works fine.

My LG G4 is fine.

In reply to: RE:How could....

I worry that your OS is hijacked or the phone is actually defective. Since you went outside the Play store for APKs my bet is infected.

Only those new will think these defenders and malwarebytes will detect bad things. Anyhow I think the next course of action is to get to XDA forums and find out how to install the stock firmware. That kills off the only infection I've run into but there are root infections that are in the news that flashing the phone won't remove. The only place those exist is, so far outside the Google app store.

ONE LAST THING. If you have a SD CARD, remove it, reset and re-test. I run into slow what appear to be failing phones and removing the SD CARD fixes it, must to the consternation of the owner.

Do not laugh when the owner then asks me to fix their SD CARD. Laugh

Have you checked......

In reply to: LG G4 lag issues

....how much memory is available on your phone ? If available memory is too low, that might explain those type of issues. If memory is too low, I would delete unwanted/unused applications.

If you are experiencing unnecessary lag from the start then you better exchange this phone to something reliable and affordable one.
