Either Nero 5.5/6 or Easy CD/DVD Creator 5/6 should work fine with that drive. Can't remember if I have the same one or its cousin, but Nero 5.5 and 6, and Easy CD Creator 6 worked just fine with it.

SOFTWARE can exceed price of another drive.

Let's see. The kid is dabbling in video. $119 got some 8X DVD+/-RW with Nero and MyDVD software plus some other titles.

I wanted a DVD/CDRW writer for the road, and I hate expensive things in case they are stolen. So some 5-1/4 USB 2.0 drive case was 35bucks and a DVD+/-RW was 79 bucks (after rebate) and included Roxio's version 6 and some DVD creation tools.

My personal desktop got the higher priced mult-format DVD recorder with Ulead's bundle, NERO and more for about 200, but that was months ago.

Point? A low cost bare drive may cost more than one with software.
