LG BP630 Smart Bluray Player

Jan 31, 2014 8:08PM PST

Be warned: this product is advertised EVERYWHERE as coming pre-loaded with Netflix (and Netflix do support the device: https://support.netflix.com/en/node/489) however the app is missing from these devices. After extensive research and putting a great deal of pressure on LG one of their customer services operators finally admitted that they are having issues with this app and are working to get this fixed - but this isn't their official line on the matter. They will tell customers that Netflix do not support the device.

DO NOT BUY this product. LG are not taking responsibility for the issues here and are trying to pass the buck onto Netflix who have confirmed they DO support the device.

It's deeper than this.

It appears that if the country code is off or the ESN is not right this happens. There's also some collusion where a maker gets a piece of the action from Netflix for each (paid) playback.

At risk of upsetting the thugs out there, the story behind all this may be all about money.

Besides, given LG's penchant for peeking at your data I'd avoid this make till they come clean.

LG BP630 Cant connect with password.
Feb 7, 2014 11:21PM PST

Have spent a frustrating time with UK Service Centre. A man called Richard told me that he was f'ed up with people sitting in their bedrooms with nothing better to do than think up problems for LG'.
Meanwhile their three-week old Blueray Player will not connect to the BT Home Hub, 2.0 using the correct password. They claim that it cannot possible be their fault, even though I have seen others who claim the same issues after just a few weeks of operation. BT, as you would suspect, say it is not their problem, which I can believe as I am sending this email through the hub right now and my printer connects wirelessly. Our nice guy at LG seemed to think that the best answer was for me to connect via a 'wire'. I will never buy LG again. LG take no responsibility for customer service.
