LG 6100 - use it like a dial-up modem?

Feb 25, 2005 6:21AM PST

I subscribe to the Verizon wireless service and have the LG6100 cellphone. We travel a lot in our RV and at campgrounds I get online with my laptop computer either via WiFi (when available & free) or via a regular phone line(usually in the campground office) & the laptop's built-in 56k modem. At home, my ISP is Cox Communications and I have their cable internet service on my desktop computer. They also have a dial-up # for when people like myself are on-the-road.
My question is: When I am away from home, instead of using a phone line and the laptop's modem, can I get online using my laptop and cellphone?
In this forum I read where people purchase a data cable but they seem to use it for downloading photos, ring tones, and such. Could that same, or similar, cable also be used to connect to the internet? If the answer is yes, what do I need to purchase and do?
As you can tell, I am not a "techie".
Thanx for any info,
Glenn

Is a data cable from Radio Shack all you need to download your pictures from the vx6100 to your computer? You don't need any special "Software"? I too am not a techie? thanks in advance.
