General discussion

lg 6100

Nov 13, 2004 12:03AM PST

I just got this cell phone and I think it is great. However, there is one flaw in my opinion. It has no stand alone vibrating alert. The vibrate is connected to the high ringer. So the phone either rings or it is off. I don't know why they got rid of the stand alone vibrate. The lg 6000 has this option. Does anyone know why they removed this feature? Or did I just get one without it.

I agree, I like the phone a lot--keep in mind I'm uninterested in "get it now" or downloading anything else so, all is good. The signal strength in my area is excellent. It's a tri-mode phone and I get a clear signal in tough analog spots (I'm in the NYC metro area and can't believe that the digital signal isn't as strong as it should be, way too many drop-spots however, that it is the case.)

Good news, the vibrate feature does exists--hold down the star (*) key for a couple of seconds and it will automatically switch to manner mode (vibrate mode).
Repeat the process to switch back to normal mode (ring tone mode).

I'm interested in knowing if this helps--please reply.

Yes, there's a vibrate stand alone mode... hold the star key down 2 seconds and it will go to "manner" mode or vibrate...

Just hold the * key for three seconds to togal between "manner mode" and regular. Switches all sounds to vibrate only. If that doest work, your phone is defective.

as people have said, * key brings vibrate only.

i actually would want the vibrate + ring, which i could do on my old LG TM510. how are you activating this on your 6100? i can't figure it out.

First you get a pocket-sized finger massager, then you place your phone in your pocket. Then, when an incoming call rings, turn on the massager. Presto! Vibrate & Ring.

But seriously, I can't believe that nobody can figure this out. All you have to do is actually READ your manual. Turn to page 84. It tells you all about volume control (Menu 9,1,3). There is also a shortcut to change the ring volume (WAY faster and easier), but I'll let you figure that out on your own. lol

To vibrate only, press and hold the asterisk button on the keypad until the screen indicates that "manner mode is activated". Manner mode causes the phone to vibrate only, no sound.

silent all

you can also do silence all by pressing down arrow key on the side of the phone. keep pressing down arrow key until it says silent than hit ok, this will set phone to silent.

there is no option in menu to do this.
