LG 60PN6500 program information question

Aug 8, 2013 4:49AM PDT

I recently purchased an LG 60PN6500 and have a question no one can seem to help me with. As of now the only programming I have access to is standard over-the-air TV. I ran auto-setup, and it appeared to finish successfully. When I tune to a channel it automatically displays the channel information (Ch. #, Ch. name, etc.) in the upper right hand corner, but in order to have it display the program information (Program Title, date/time, progress bar that shows you how much of the episode is left, etc) you have to physically push the info button every time you tune to a different channel. This may not seem like a big deal but it is actually very inconvenient and time consuming. It makes channel surfing very difficult. What I want is to figure out a way to have the program information banner automatically displayed just like the channel information is. I have searched online, called tech support (they claimed this can not be done), and gone through every option in my settings myself all to no avail. If anyone has any suggestions on how to accomplish this please let me know.

Surprise.

I looked into that over a year ago and it appears that such a feature is PATENTED. So it's not as if everyone can implement what seems like a good idea that would be obvious.

That would explain why such an obvious feature is not included and why there is no simple, direct way to fix it. Thanks for that info, but I'm not ready to give up just yet. Is there anyway this could be achieved via the Service Menu or something like it? One idea that struck me is programming a remote to tie the channel up and channel down commands both to the information command. That way it would be the same as if it was automatically displayed when channel cruising. Do you need to purchase a specialized remote to achieve something like this or is there a way to program the included LG remote?

I went with an OTA DVR system. Sorry but there are too many today. As to your service menu question, I won't discuss such as everyone flames and even tries to sue folk over use and destruction of a TV when they use that menu.

Good hunting,
