Question

LG 55UB8500 horizontal line error

Sep 7, 2016 6:07PM PDT

I noticed today when I turn the TV on that a single horizontal line appears from the right side of the screen going left, but not all the way across. It sometimes appears in a different height, rarely at allhttp://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s143/kouichi341/lg%20problem_zps6xotn8vr.jpg, but always looks the same. After about 20-30 seconds, it goes away, but this is making me nervous. What is causing this, and am I going to pay out the nose to get it fixed?

Answer
It could be panel, boards or other.

A tech would try boards and connections, cables first. The cause here can't be nailed except by changing the parts. If there is any warranty, use it, If you can extend the warranty do that now.

Unfortunately, it only had a 1 yr warranty and I bought it in Dec 2014.

Here's a tip about that.

Many companies let you extend the warranty even OOW. There is a caveat in most you can't claim on the warranty for 30 days but this could be the cheapest move.

https://www.amazon.com/LG-55LH5750-Accessory-Bundle-Television/dp/B01DL6PPVI/ref=CNET shows an LG 55 inch at 650. Prices have crashed so weigh that with the extended warranty cost.

I do not work for LG and only know that some, not all companies offer extended warranties.
