The idea of such features is very recent. Nothing seems amiss here.

LG 42PJ550 doesn't play Movies either from USB ( only shows 2 buttons - Photos and Music), and TV is from May 2010!

Is there anyway I can see movie through USB with model 42PJ550? please advise
There are now over 100 sticks like the following.

I don't care for those sticks as most consumers would not understand that video playback is going to be less friendly than your PC. That is, the encoding can matter and some encodings will require re-encoding.
For that much money a newer BluRay player with the usual USB port for such playback may be the better deal.

PS. Side question. Do you think consumers thought smart tvs would get upgrades? (I didn't.)
