LG may have rushed out updates due to the news such as http://bgr.com/2013/11/20/lg-smart-tv-spying/
It's possible in their hurry they bungled a few.

I had a very old, extremely heavy TV in my bedroom. Two of our family Thanksgiving dinner members volunteered to remove the old TV and hook up the new TV. I accepted their offer. The TV played fine yesterday.
I turned the TV on this morning and shortly after received a notification that an update was being installed, shortly after that the screen started flashing on and off; after a bit of time the flashing stopped and the TV continued playing the show I was watching. A few minutes later, another update notification popped up. Quite some time later the screen once again started flashing on and off. That stopped after a long time period.
Now, the TV will not turn on. When I hit the power burron, the LG logo will flash on and then the TV immediately turns off. I have researched LG's website to find an answer; however, that search was unsuccessful. Before I call, I thought I would check in here and see if anyone else has had this problem and what the solution was.
