LG 40UH630V

I just replaced my old un-smart LG tv with the UH630V, thinking that as I have had all LG up to now the transition would be easy, and so it was. Except when I record on to my separate DVD recorder (also LG) there is no sound on playback. And even if the recorder is even just on and not playing, there is no sound on the TV - which is on AV as I am satellite only. Can anyone help please?
