This sounds like what happened with the BAD CAPS PLAGUE (google that.) Repair costs vary but if the owner didn't get it fixed early on and keep it under power turning it off and on the other boards might be damaged meaning it could be more than the one board.
And then we have the price crash problem. Today http://www.woot.com/ has a 39 inch set for 199 bucks.

I have a LG 37LD450 that's been having issues for months now. Whenever I turn it on, it stays on sometimes for 5 minutes and then switches off and tries to turn on again. Sometimes it doesn't turn on at all but I can see that it tries to turn back on by restarting itself without showing a picture. What could be the problem? And is it worth paying someone to repair it or shall i just get rid of it?
