I have the same player and just got it recently too. I hope Samsung will keep supporting it with new apps since it was just released this year in March or something like that.
I recently purchased a Samsung BDC 5500 blu-ray player, and I've noticed that according to this chart released by Samsung: http://www.samsung.com/us/samsungapps/Samsung_Apps.pdf, it lacks certain Samsung Apps - i.e. Facbook, Hulu - available on higher-end/newer models. What's the reason for this? Has Samsung pretty much given up on new apps for the older, non-3D blu ray players?
I was hoping that at some point Amazon VOD would be available as an App for my player, but since the 5500 is an older model, I'm wondering if what I have for Apps now is all I'm going to get, and that if I want something like Amazon VOD, I'll need a newer player/TV that supports Yahoo! Widgets, or for which Samsung is still release Apps.
And chance at more info/insight into this would be greatly appreciated.
