Leopard 10.5.2, Wifi Connection Problem.

Feb 22, 2008 11:39AM PST

Hi,

Ok, I updated from Leopard 10.5.1 to 10.5.2 last week via Update.
Since then, i have faced Wifi Connection problem.

I uses a MacBook, the wifi connection is so weak, and unstable, it drops.. but the iPod Touch which is beside my MacBook has no problem!

I thought it was a Router issue, so i changed to my old router.. D-Link 524 i think... same thing.. Ipod Touch connects without problem.. but MacBook can't connect. And can't even see other network around my area.

I suspect this is a problem with the Leopard Update.

What should i do? I tried Restart, Resetting whatever memory SMC.. from the Apple website. But to no avail...

I have posted this on several forums, and i am not alone with this issue.

I hope the Buzz Out Loud crew can broadcast this.. and see if this is a common problem.

Again, i have no problem with connection before when i uses Leopard 10.5.

Hope this will be solved.. i need to bring my computer to school! Sad

Thanks sooo much
moses

You are not alone.

Many Leopard uses have been having wireless problems. Apple has claimed that update 10.5.2 will solve this, but still many users face it. I recently have had this problem for the first time. It seems that keychain and the wireless assistant does not remember and store the internet settings and some times cannot find networks at all. Honestly, here is still no known solution for this, but I have came up with ways which will help resolve such an issue. It seems that many Mac users who installed from the combo update does not have this issue where as users who installed the update from software update are battling this problem.

Solved?
Feb 26, 2008 3:35PM PST

Ok...

I shifted my Router around, and placed it in my room instead of the other room.. and i got full signals again.. have been stable for the past 3 days.

I think it;s a HALF solved.. because i dont understand why i have to shift to router to get it work, when it works in the past..

Anyway... try shifting ur Router around if u have the same problem.

Hopefulme

Wireless and Leopard
Feb 26, 2008 6:40PM PST

as already mentioned, machines with all the bars in Tiger did not get all the bars in Leopard.

The only difference being the OS and the wireless drivers used.

I have an old Airport, 802.11b, in the same room as my Mac and when Tiger was the OS in use I had all 4 bars of the Airport icon lit up.

Now, with Leopard on the same machine, I only get three.

Maybe one day it will get fixed

I own a di 524. Tips.
Feb 26, 2008 7:29PM PST

1. Install the latest firmware. We had a dell that would not connect until that was done. To confuse all, other devices and laptops would connect.

2. Set it up per our network forum stick. SSID (simple name please) broadcasting, WPA-PSK and no other changes.
