Question

Lens mount adapter problems!

Dec 30, 2014 12:33PM PST

I purchased the Fotodiox lens mount adapter to use Nikon G type/DX type lenses with the Fujifilm X-pro1 body, and although all the attachments fit properly I cannot physically take a photo! When I press the shutter button nothing happens - as if there is no lens attached.

At first a warning came up about the shutter speed being too long but I made adjustments and still no luck.

Can anybody help me with this? I haven't come across anybody having this sort of problem before - and I don't know if I am making a really basic technical error (I am still fairly amateur) or what the problem could be. I assumed that because everything fit together fine I should be able to take pictures fine.

You need to turn on "shoot without lens" mode in the camera's menus. (Since this is a "dumb" (i.e. no electronic contacts) adapter, the camera thinks there is no lens attached. You need to tell it to take a picture anyway. Also, since there's no electronic communication between the camera and lens, you won't have any EXIF data for focal length or aperture and the lens will have to be operated completely manually -- i.e. focus, aperture, etc.)
