Question

Lenovo z570 laptop automatically restarting after shut down

Jul 20, 2016 7:57AM PDT

I am having lenovo Z570. For last one month I am facing an unusual problem with my laptop. Its restarting again after shutting down. Even its getting restarted after switching it off by pressing the power button. I searched for the possible reason in the net. I scanned the hard disk, formatted it, Installed fresh os, the problem is there even if I am removing the hard disk. The machine is restarting again and again. Does anyone have any solution for this problem?

Answer
It's not a new issue but hard to diagnose.

The only clue is the fresh install of the OS. My next simple test would be to install the factory supplied OS.

If that fails, the machine needs repair. My bet is they'll replace the motherboard.

Before that, be sure the BIOS has all its defaults and there are no USB things plugged in. And to rule out another rare issue, replace the internal battery (not the big one, the tiny one inside.)

I had tried everything regarding os. How to reset bios settings? And the tiny internal battery... is it CMOS battery?

Yes, that's what some call it.

As you did ask, you can understand why I didn't call it that.
