Question

Lenovo Y50-70

Oct 3, 2015 1:04AM PDT

I'm looking at getting a laptop for gaming and everyday use. I have a few questions about this laptop.
Does anyone know what benefit having just 8gb of SSD? I know SSD is faster than HDD but 8gb is tiny.
Would this laptop have IPS display?
Is the RAM good?
Is Lenovo generally a reliable brand?

No.

For example the office supplied a leading edge y510p. At 2 years they refreshed it with a SSD and new keyboard (I type a lot.) So while this did bring it up to be fairly current this is proof that no PC is future proof. We see DDR4 right around the corner and Moore's Law is still in force.

That said, it's a model line that is liked by some and others don't like the compromises.

Answer
That's that cache SSD.

I'd ignore that as a feature.

As to IPS, the y50-70 has some dozen models. So I can't check it. Yes you have a link but the detail is eluding me. Try asking the seller and maker directly. If they don't answer, no sale.

Are you Joe?

That model doesn't match the first post's model but pretty nice. Many gamers will be OK, except the more rabid ones.

Happy So do you think the asus would be better overall?

I scanned this discussion for an Asus and didn't find one.

Add the model number if you want others to compare it.

Usually dis on the LCD or touchpad. On any gaming laptop, well, everyone wants more from the LCD and touchpads are something of the devil's spawn.

Given my y510p's experience I like that build. And mine didn't have the DVDRW or BR drive so it was never missed. I use some USB DVDRW when it's needed.

I do not like SSDs under 240GB. They tend to create calls about how to keep them cleaned off. Make sure you can upgrade that later.

OK, let's call these nearly equal. Google like this to compare the GPUs.
