Question

Lenovo Y40-80 for MS Office and Movies?

Apr 13, 2015 11:21AM PDT

I just saw that Lenovo has a deal running for the Y40-80. $599 with

5th Generation Intel Core i7-5500U Processor (2.40GHz 1600MHz 4MB)
8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L 1600 MHz
Hybrid 500GB 5400 RPM+8GB SSHD

I plan to use the laptop for MS Office (Word, Excel), web surfing and streaming movies (Netflix, etc.)

Would this laptop perform well? For the specs above and the price, I'm having a hard time passing it up! Also, it doesn't look like this model was affected by Superfish.

Opinions are MUCH appreciated. Thanks all.

Answer
Very capable of that.

My old core2duo with its Intel 4500MHD integrated graphics would play 1080p movies just fine. You are generations beyond that so it's going to be super.

That's a 5th Gen i7, so peddle to the max there.

Too much burn. All gone, Lenovo learned the lesson it seems.
