If I were to guess it's either a bios setting or what they call a helper application but this issue can be caused by folk changing BIOS settings, a virus/malware issue or folk that used registry cleaners or got caught up by that talk about crapware and deleted some app or file that was needed for this function.
A restore to the factory condition is likely if the damage can't be fixed and since this is custom and not a stock feature of Windows, only Lenovo may have a fix short of a restore to the factory condition.
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad U410with Windows 8.
The Novo Button (the equivalent of the Startup menu on other models) has a number of options which you can see here - these being Normal Startup, Bios Setup, Boot menu and System Recovery.
Suddenly all the option except Normal Start and System Recovery don't work.
If I click on Boot Menu or BIOS settings the machine just boots normally and doesn't' go into the respective menu items.
an anyone help me with a) how this happened and b) how do I return to normal behaviour?
